My Tripod Payton

Payton just had his third round of chemo on Thursday. He is doing great with it and he's getting around better every day. He has one round left and hopefully his cancer will stay in remission for a long time. Seeing him happy again is the most important thing to me. As long as his quality of life remains good and he is pain free that's all that matters. It made the amputation and chemo treatments worth while. Don't get me wrong, it was very hard at first and Payton needed 110% of our attention all the time. Payton most likely would have been gone by now if we didn't go through with the amputation and chemo. Payton and I want to thank somebody from the bottom of our hearts and her name is Kendra. She was a big part of our life's for a while and she was there to help us through this. She gave 110% all the time and we're both grateful and appreciate everything she did. Thank you so much for everything.
Love Payton & Anthony

I am amazed, blessed and so very grateful to you for your blog. Last week (Sunday September 23rd) I was notified that my Rottie-Potty’s limp was not a soft tissue injury as it was initially diagnosed, but in fact an Osteosarcoma. I was devastated at the diagnosis. I immediately obtained her x-rays and labs to obtain several second opinions. I obtained the same devastating diagnosis including the notice that she would probably have only 1-3 months to live after the surgery. Although there is not evidence of the cancer having spread to her lungs I was told just as you were that it probably has spread. I was unsure about the surgery until she lay down in our bathroom and began to yelp when she tried to get up. I was able to find a veterinarian that was able to take care of Piggie’s leg and she is now on her second day of recovery from left hind leg amputation. I am nervous and anxious about finding a reputable Chemo/canine Oncologist that will help me figure out the best course of drugs and not take advantage of my desperation. I live in Los Angeles and was given assistance from an amazing animal health advocate organization named “Actors and Others”. I am so scared for us. Piggle Wiggle is an amazing loving 7 year old girl and I feel privileged to have her in my life. She whines very little, but is very clear about her displeasure with my insistence that she wear her collar. Your blog has offered me so much more hope. Please pray for us as we move forward with our treatment and recovery.

Any additional information that you might have would be greatly appreciated. Your baby boy is beautiful and I am so happy to see that he is doing so well. She is attempting to lie on her injured side and has been unsuccessful; did Payton attempt to negotiate this so early in his recovery?

Be Blessed,

Ms Piggie and Me.

Thanks for sharing your story Ms Piggie's mommy. Yes, Payton eventually preferred to lay on his 'injured' side. I asked the vet and he said this pressure provides comfort. I was worried at first too as he even liked to lay on the hardwood floor! This pressure also helped to push out fluids built up. Also, we put a little fan in front of Payton to keep him calm so that he would wear his collar. This really helped soothe him.
